MS Bike Ride Training

It's less than three weeks until the 150 mile MS Bike ride. I've been riding my bike, not as much as I really should be, but as much as I can. Biking to work several days a week. Hummm, am I ready to ride 75 miles a day, two days in a row?

Sunday afternoon, I decided to ride up to Kimberling City. Nice terrain, mostly downhill from Blue Eye, but with so many curves in the road, the cars are right on top of you before they see you. Glad I had my mirror on by glasses to watch behind me!
I didn't leave home until about 5:30. Usually I make a circle and come back home. But this time, I told Lajunta, I was just going to ride until dark, and then call and have her come and pick me up. Between Lampe and Kimberling City, I stopped and grabbed a BBQ sandwich at "Jill's". Got it to go. I made it to Kimberling City, 22.5 miles in less than two hours. Average speed was 12 mph.

I called Lajunta, told her where I was, then sat at the lake and watched the sun set, while I ate my BBQ sandwich. So nice and peaceful. I really enjoyed it.

Lajunta came to pick me up, grabbed her camera and wanted to take some photos of me sitting beside the lake. Then we did some of me and my bike against the sun set. I liked this photo the best.

Good job, Lajunta.

Karla and Jason's Wedding.

On August 10, our daughter, Karla, was married to Jason McCullough. The wedding was held at the Keeter Center, which is located on the campus of the College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO.

The wedding was at 10:00am, as they had to get to St. Louis to catch a plane Sunday morning. Our family enjoyed meeting all Jason's relatives. He was raised in the Springfield area. His family hosted a very nice rehearsal dinner, which we all enjoyed. Everything went great for the wedding. We were certainly glad it was an indoor wedding, as it was steaming hot outdoors! Chris from the Keeter Center did an incredible job, we were so pleased with the quality of the service and food.

We want to thank our special friends, Robert O. and Joanne Seat, from Batesville, AR for coming up and doing the photography. Lajunta and I first met the Seats at one of the first pro seminars we attended, nearly 30 years ago. Kim Lowery and my nephew, Matt, did some candid photos of the event also.

The newlyweds honeymooned in St. Lucia. We were a bit concerned about their safely, when we woke up Friday morning to hear on the news that Hurricane Dean, had passed over the island. We didn't hear from them, until they returned on Saturday to Miami. They had slept through the storm! The next morning, there was 6" of sand that had washed in around the pool. We certainly were glad to hear from them!

Karla and Jason have a home in Ozark. Karla drives to Branson each day, as she still works as the administrative assistant to the president of K-Life. Jason, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, works for ESC Consulting Engineers in Springfield.

McGuire-Otto Wedding

Saturday, August 4, was the wedding day for Robin McGuire and Kurt Otto. They are both from the Bentonville area. Our wedding couples have been so much fun this summer, and Robin and Kurt were no exception. They were a delight to work with. We really enjoyed them and their families.
The wedding was in Branson at the Chateau on the Lake. It is a nice venue for a wedding, especially late in the day when we can shoot sunset photos.

We were invited to join them for their reception, and enjoyed a wonderful meal.

Thanks, Robin and Kurt, for letting us be a part of your special day.

I was assisted at the wedding by Kim Lowery, an aspiring photographer from the Bella Vista area. She helps me on occasion, as her schedule allows. Kim has a good eye for getting special candid shots, shooting more of a photojournalistic style.

Brooks-Grimm Wedding

(Note: Click on photos above to enlarge).
On Friday night, August 3, we had the honor of photographing the wedding of Kimberly Brooks and Zachary Grimm. Both are from the Joplin area. Kim is the daughter of Kevin Brooks and Patty Brooks, also from the Joplin area. Zach's parents are Troy and Susan Hill of Branson.

The wedding was held at the Stonegate Chapel, just north of Branson. Reception followed at the Meadows of Eden, which is near the chapel.
It was a very enjoyable wedding. Lighting was perfect for photos at the chapel. We enjoyed working with those involved with the event. It was a very joyous occasion!

Thanks again, Kim and Zach, for letting us be a part of this special occasion.
