Yocum Creek, Looking Great!

Located just 2 miles from our studio is Yocum Creek. As a child, this was a favorite swimming hole for kids in the area. Plus, some of the area churches used it as a place to baptise people.

This past spring, several large rains cleaned out many of the weeds that had grown on the creek bank. Plus, the owners of the creek have been cleaning up the area, getting rid of the trash that is occasionally left by thoughtless, irresponsible people who use the area and leave their garbage behind. I was a little concerned when a "No Trespassing" sign was put up this spring. I visited with the owner, and was told I could use the area for photos anytime I wanted.

Here's a couple of photos from a recent session at the creek.

Kansas City Wedding

The weekend of June 17-18, Lajunta and I traveled to Kansas City to photograph the wedding of Memorie Smith and Michael Sherrill. It was an outdoor wedding in Antioch Park. The weather could not have been much better. It looked like a possibility of rain, but was just nice and overcast. . .ideal for ourdoor portraits! Thank you Memorie and Michael, we had a great time!
On Sunday we visited with a friend, Kerry Callen. Kerry lives in Lee's Summit, but was raised in Oak Grove. His family was gone for the week (church camp and Boy's State). We drove around the city on Sunday with Kerry as our guide, Lajunta wanting to photograph as many fountains as possible.

New Studio Set - Arbor

Have been wanting one of these for a long time, finally got one. It's a white arbor, with lattice work. A nice addition to our yard. Also picked up a few new plants in pots.

Brush with Rock and Roll Greatness

I had the chance to do some photos at the new Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater last week end. When I was finished, I had a couple photos taken with the stars of the show. One photo is Paul Revere of Paul Revere and the Raiders. The other is Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers.
You may be familar with a couple o f Bill Medley's songs. The Righteous Brothers sang "Unchained Melody", one of the top songs that has ever been played on the radio. Medley also sang the theme song for the film, "Dirty Dancing".
If you are much under 50, you may not have heard of them. Check it out.

New Changing Tent

When going to the creek or lake to do a photo session, finding a place to change clothes can sometimes be a problem. No more!

We found this nifty little pop-up, portable tent. It folds up into a small bag that you can carry over your shoulder. But when it pops-up, it's about 6 1/2' tall, and 4'x4' at the bottom. Works great. Now, if I can just master folding it back up to go into the bag!
